Lalesse is the make we have the most experience with. Not because we happen to come across a lot of them, but because our engineers worked on these systems before Intralogix existed.

Anyone can be taught to maintain a stacker crane. Understanding a Lalesse installation is something else: for that you have to know why it is the way it is — which choices sit in the structure, how the control system is built up, and what happens if you change something at one end.

That knowledge sits in our people. They have worked on these machines, know where the weak points are, and often recognise a problem before it has been explained.

For you that means: a shorter diagnosis, fewer surprises during a project, and someone to talk to who does not have to get to know your installation first.

Changing stacker cranes: this is where the difference lies

Cranes that change aisle do not operate on their own. They are part of a whole that is matched mechanically, electrically and in terms of control: transfer plates, curve detection, switch detection, and a control system that knows exactly where each crane is and where it is allowed to go. Anyone replacing or modernising one crane in there has to understand that whole interplay.

On Lalesse we know that interplay from the inside. Our engineers have worked on these systems and know how the parts act on each other. That is why a Lalesse owner gets an answer from us faster than from a company that still has to get to know the installation.

Connecting to what is already running

A modernised crane has to keep running as part of the system around it. We connect our control system to the warehouse control system you already use, including Lalesse’s own. If you would rather have your own control layer, that is possible too.

Whatever you have, the starting point is that your warehouse keeps working the way your people know it.

Independent, and that works in your favour

We work independently of the manufacturer. Our people know these machines from the inside — they built them.

That means we advise you on the basis of what works out best for you: maintain where that is enough, modernise where it pays off, and say honestly when nothing needs doing for now.

Frequently asked questions about Lalesse stacker cranes

Who can service a Lalesse stacker crane?

Two routes: the manufacturer, or an independent company. We are the second.

Our engineers worked on Lalesse systems before Intralogix existed. They know the structure, the control system and the interplay between them — not from documentation, but because they built it. We have no business relationship with the manufacturer, which means we advise you on the basis of what works out best for you.

Are parts for an older Lalesse crane still available?

For the mechanics, usually yes. For the electronics, often not.

That is the pattern on almost any installation of fifteen years or older, whatever the make: the steel structure lasts for decades, but controls, drive controllers and sensors go out of production. A single faulty part can then mean days of downtime because there is nothing on the shelf.

At that point, carrying on repairing costs more than modernising.

Can the control system be replaced without replacing the crane?

Yes. That is exactly what a retrofit is.

The steel structure stays where it is; we replace the control system, the drives, the safety technology and the wear parts. New control software runs on Siemens Simatic S7-1500F, with full diagnostics and remote support. Components are available again for years to come.

It can also be done in stages: one crane first, the rest when it suits you.

Will my existing warehouse system still work after a retrofit?

Yes. We connect our control system to the warehouse control system you already use, including Lalesse’s own.

Your processes and the way your people work stay untouched. Only the layer that no longer holds up technically is replaced. If you would rather have your own control layer, that is possible too.

Do you also work on Lalesse cranes that change aisle?

Yes, and that is where our knowledge is worth the most.

Cranes that change aisle do not work on their own: transfer plates, curve detection, switch detection and a control system that knows where every crane is all act on each other. Anyone replacing one crane in there has to understand that whole interplay. On Lalesse we know it from the inside.

On other makes we limit ourselves to aisle-bound cranes. We would rather say that beforehand than afterwards.

What does a retrofit of a Lalesse crane cost?

Quoting a figure without knowing your installation would mislead you.

What determines the price: the number of cranes and whether they are identical, exactly what is being replaced, how much downtime your process can take and in which window, the quality of the documentation on the existing system, and component lead times.

This much though: a retrofit costs a fraction of a replacement installation and calls for considerably less downtime. Tell us what you have and we will work it out for you.

How quickly can you be there when something breaks down?

Contract customers take priority. That is the difference that counts on the day something fails.

We deliberately do not quote a response time in hours: it depends on where your installation is and what is wrong. Where the installation is set up for it, our engineers look in remotely first — often a fault is cleared before anyone is on the road.
